At Zanzibar, we acknowledge that the cornerstone of our achievements lies in the dedication of our team. While our business revolves around trees, our true success comes from our strong relationships with clients and staff. Zanzibar is known for their commitment to the well being and growth of their staff. We pride ourselves on our dedication to  safety, quality, and efficiency.

Tree Planting

Zanzibar has planted over 500 million trees over the last 40 years. Zanzibar has a diverse, experienced, and talented staff planting trees across  British Columbia.

The most important resource of any silviculture contracting company is the quality of worker that it attracts. Zanzibar has built a strong reputation for having some of the most experienced and competent silviculture workers in the province. This reputation has been built from Zanzibar’s hiring and recruiting process. We  typically require a minimum of 3 years planting experience before they are considered for hire. We have a high return rate, which gives us the ability to retain skilled staff and invest in their development yearly.

We continue to develop successful management process that focus on communication and accessibility. We have regionally based Operations Managers to support Project Leads. Project Leads are assigned to contracts to liaise, negotiate, and plan. Forepersons and planters build an essential base of local knowledge that informs daily decisions about contract specifications.

Zanzibar successfully manages a diverse set of activities such as record keeping, stock tracking, and invoicing. Zanzibar has a wide understanding of management and database systems, and is able to integrate it with clients operating systems. We use digital databases such as Plant Wizard to track data and generate reports efficiently and quickly. Daily activities are recorded and coordinated in Plant Wizard, which enables our clients staff access to review our systems on a daily basis.

Zanzibar employs a “safety first” approach and meets of exceeds all legislative requirements and standards in British Columbia. For more information on our health and safety policies please visit our safety homepage.

Danger Tree Assessment

Zanzibar Holdings Ltd. employs an experienced team of Certified Fallers and Wildlife/Danger Tree Assessors for deployment to its various projects. All Fallers are Level 3 B.C. or CAGC certified and possess Wildlife Danger Tree Committee assessment certificates in Forest Harvesting and Silviculture and/or Wildfire modules.

Each falling crew is accompanied in the field by a BCFSC Qualified Falling Supervisor.

Our specialty is dangerous tree assessment and hazard mitigation for silviculture projects, especially in burned standing timber. Zanzibar fallers are familiar with the requirements particular to large-scale tree planting operations in areas with little or no access by road, and play a crucial role in determining alternative access via UTV/ATV and helicopter; this typically involves laying out and cutting UTV access trails, helicopter landing and seedling drop-sites and helicopter evacuation sites. Several of our fallers are also engaged on active wildfires as DTA and DTF throughout B.C. during the fire season.
