Zanzibar Holdings Ltd – Silviculture Survey Experience and Company Profile
Zanzibar Holdings has a thirty plus year history of doing silviculture work. The scope of our work has largely been planting. Over the last fifteen years we have expanded into more technical work and have been doing the silvicultural surveys for our Licensees and Ministry clients. We have a team of five accredited silviculture surveyor’s and a RPF on staff.
In 2014 we successfully completed 15,000 hectares of silvicultural surveys and 300 GPS points for pine beetle surveys (detailed work history upon request).
In addition work directly contracted through Zanzibar we also supplied the field staff for the 2014 Cariboo survey projects SU15DCC002, SU15DMH003, SU15DCC006A, SU15TLH007, SU15TLE008 .

Sylvia has been employed with Zanzibar for thirty plus years. She has supervised for Zanzibar the past 28 years and surveyed for the past 14. Sylvia has co-managed our Cariboo survey Program the past 5 years and is familiar with BCTS, FFT specs and objectives and Cariboo silviculture perspectives. She is a certified silviculture surveyor, a danger tree assessor, as well a level 1 first aid attendant. Sylvia has also assisted Zanzibar surveys in the East Kootenays. Sylvia has been a certified surveyor for 14 years.

Bill Layton RPF# 2627, Certified Silviculture Surveyor #AA201203
Bill has been employed with Zanzibar since 2011 and runs our Williams Lake First Nations joint venture program. Bill has managed the Douglas-fir survey and spacing program for two years in Williams Lake, coordinating surveys, assessments and contract implementation. He is familiar with FFT/MOF specs and objectives and Cariboo silviculture perspectives. Bill is a Registered Professional Forester (#2627) and certified Silviculture Surveyor. Bill has surveyed tens of thousands of hectares in the Cariboo and northern BC in his career, and performed prescriptions, contract supervision and implementation on site prep, spacing, herbicide, burning, planting, brushing and other silviculture activities. Tom has been employed with Zanzibar for 34 years. Tom has supervised for Zanzibar the past 25 years and surveyed for the past 12. Tom was involved in the Canfor 2014 survey program as well as the Revelstoke FFT survey project last fall, and is familiar with specs and objectives and East Kootenays silviculture perspectives. He is a certified silviculture surveyor, a danger tree assessor, as well a level 1 first aid attendant. Tom has been a certified surveyor for 14 years

Jeff has been employed with Zanzibar for twelve years as a project supervisor and surveyor and has 30+ years of experience in Silviculture. He is an accredited certified silvicultural surveyor, a danger tree assessor, a level 1 first aid attendant. Jeff is also an accomplished planting supervisor. Dan Track #AA201404
Dan has worked for Zanzibar for 20 years and has been a surveyor for the past 12 of these, for Tolko Industries in Merritt as well as FFT and BCTS in the Cariboo. He successfully passed the exam in the April 2014. He has experience in regeneration surveys, survival surveys, and tree planting. Dan is S100 certified with Level One first aid and a danger tree assessor. Dan has 12 years surveying experience
